Privacy policy
We collect as little as we can, and only to run the alerts and services you ask for.
Award Escape (“we”), a business registered in Hong Kong, runs awardescape.com. This policy covers the whole site. Questions or requests: privacy@awardescape.com.
What you give us
- Alerts. Your email address and what the alert is for: alert type, your points balance if you enter it, the hotel or destination, and the page you signed up on.
- Trip research and audit requests. Your name, email, and the trip or business details you type into the form.
- Stay reports. Your email, the name you choose to show, your Facebook group name if you add it, and the stay details you report. We publish the report with the name you chose, never your email. A folio or confirmation you send to verify a stay is deleted once checked.
You don’t need an account, and we never ask for your Marriott Bonvoy login. A points balance you type into the search box goes into the page address so the results can show; it isn’t stored unless you also sign up for an alert.
What stays in your browser
Saved escapes, alerts you’ve created and your card country choice are kept in your browser’s local storage so My Escapes works without an account. They never leave your device unless you sign up for an alert. Clearing your browser data removes them. We don’t set advertising cookies.
What we see automatically
- Your country, worked out from your IP address by our host, to show the credit cards available where you live. We don’t store it.
- Server logs kept by our host for security and fixing errors, which include IP addresses.
- Visit statistics from Vercel, measured without cookies and only in aggregate: pages viewed, referring sites, country and device type.
- Visit statistics from Google Analytics: pages viewed, how you arrived, approximate location, device and browser, and which tools and links you use. Outside the UK, the EEA and Switzerland, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga) to count return visits. In the UK, the EEA and Switzerland it sets no analytics cookies and sends only cookieless measurements. Advertising features are off everywhere, and we never send your email or name to Google.
Who processes it for us
- Vercel hosts the site and provides one set of visit statistics.
- Google provides Google Analytics. How Google uses data from sites that use its services.
- Resend stores alert signups and sends our emails.
We don’t sell your information or share it with advertisers.
Links to other sites
Booking links go to marriott.com and card links go to the card issuer. Some are affiliate links (see the affiliate disclosure), and the affiliate network may set its own cookie when you follow one. Those sites’ own privacy policies apply once you’re there.
How long we keep it
Alert signups are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Service requests and stay reports are kept for as long as we need them to answer you and keep business records.
Your choices
- Every alert email has an unsubscribe link.
- To stop Google Analytics measuring your visits, use Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
- To see, correct or delete what we hold about you, email privacy@awardescape.com.
Children
Award Escape is not meant for anyone under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date below, and email alert subscribers about big changes.
