Marriott missing points
The short answer
Ask the hotel to confirm the bonus while you’re there, keep one record of the rate from when you booked, and check your account after checkout. If the points don’t post, claim them within a year: on Marriott’s website or app, through Member Support, or at the hotel itself.
- 1 year
- to claim points that didn't post
- 4
- places to ask: the website, the app, the hotel and Member Support
- 30 days
- before you joined that a new member can still claim
01
Are screenshots enough?
They’re a good backup, not your best proof. Members report that confirmation emails and folios no longer show the bonus points that came with a rate, so a screenshot is often the only record people have. But the hotel holds your reservation and the rate you booked, and Marriott’s terms count hotels among the places a missing points request can go.
So the strongest proof is the hotel confirming the bonus while you’re still there.
02
When you book: keep one record
On the rate details page, use your browser’s share or print button to save it as a PDF, and email it to yourself with a subject like “Marriott bonus: hotel, dates”. It’s dated, it shows the rate’s full wording, and one search finds every stay. No app or folder to keep up.
Can’t save the page? Take one screenshot that shows the rate name, the bonus points, the dates and the price together.
03
At the hotel: get it confirmed
At check-in, say: “My rate includes [amount] bonus points. Can you check that’s on my reservation?” If it isn’t, ask them to note it before you go up to the room.
At checkout, look at the rate name on your folio. If the points don’t post later, the hotel is one of the places you can ask, and it’s the one that can see what you booked.
04
After checkout: check, then claim
Check your account once the stay shows up. If the bonus is missing, send a request on Marriott’s website or app, through Member Support, or to the hotel. Marriott’s terms say “missing-credit requests must be received within one (1) year of the applicable activity”, so a forgotten claim can still count months later.
Everything an agent needs, in one message:
Missing points request
Confirmation number: [number]
Hotel: [hotel name]
Dates: [check-in] to [check-out]
Rate booked: [rate name, as shown when booking]
Points missing: [amount] bonus points offered with this rate
Attached: the rate details saved on [date I booked]

Paid with points instead?
Award stays don’t earn points, but they do earn Elite Night Credits. If those don’t post, the same deadline and the same places to ask apply. What each tier needs.
Questions
How long do I have to claim missing Marriott points?
A year. Marriott's terms say missing-credit requests must be received within one (1) year of the applicable activity.
Can the hotel add missing Marriott points?
You can ask there. Marriott's terms list its hotels among the places you can request missing credit, alongside its website, app and Member Support.
I joined Marriott Bonvoy after my stay. Can I still get the points?
For a stay in the 30 days before you joined, yes, if you ask within a year. Earlier stays don't count.
Why don't my bonus points show on my Marriott confirmation?
Members report that confirmations and folios no longer list the bonus points that come with a rate. Save the rate details when you book, and ask the hotel to confirm the bonus at check-in.
What should a Marriott missing points request include?
Your confirmation number, the hotel, your dates, the rate name as shown when you booked, the points missing, and the rate details you saved.
