Marriott Nightly Upgrade Awards

• One award covers one room for one night, so a four-night stay needs four.
• You can only use them when you have enough for every night of the reservation, including a night that is free, such as the fifth night of an award stay.
• Marriott checks for an upgrade each day before you arrive, until around 2 p.m. local time the day before. If it can’t confirm one, the awards go back to your account, as long as they haven’t expired.

Through the Annual Choice Benefit. Platinum Elite members and above who reach 50 Elite Night Credits in a calendar year can choose 5 of them, and get 5 anyway if they don’t choose by the deadline. They are also one of the choices at 75 nights. See every tier.

On December 31 of the year after you earn them, and Marriott won’t extend them. You can’t give or transfer them to anyone else, so plan the stay you’ll use them on early.

• Leave a stay early, and any confirmed awards for the nights you skip are gone.
• Once an upgrade confirms, you get the awards back only by cancelling the whole reservation.
• You can’t add them to a reservation after you’ve checked in.
