Marriott Cash + Points
Cash + Points pays for an award night with a mix of cash and points, in a standard room, at hotels that offer it. The cash part earns no points and the fifth night free doesn’t apply, so use it when you’re a little short of points for a stay that’s still worth booking.

How does Marriott Cash + Points work?
Marriott’s terms put it simply: members “can apply a mix of cash and Points for one or more nights in a standard room.” Each hotel decides whether to offer it, so not every hotel or date will have it.
Both the cash and the points for a night change over time, like any award price, so check the split on marriott.com for your dates. Taxes and service charges on the cash part are yours to pay.
What do you give up with Cash + Points?
- Points on the cash part. The cash you pay earns no Bonvoy points or airline miles.
- Ambassador spend. The cash part doesn’t count toward the spending Ambassador Elite needs.
- The fifth night free. Marriott’s stay for 5, pay for 4 offer doesn’t apply. Book all five nights with points instead and the fifth night is free. See five-night stays.
When is Cash + Points worth it?
When you’re short of points for a stay that rates well on points, and the other ways to close the gap cost more. Marriott sells points at US$12.50 per 1,000, so compare the cash Marriott asks for each night with what the missing points would cost to buy. Price the missing points, or move them in from a card program with the transfer calculator.
If the stay is poor value on points to begin with, paying part of it in points doesn’t fix that. Pay cash and save your points. Check the stay first.
